Get to Know James C. Eschen
A member of the California Bar since 1984, James C. Eschen has extensive experience handling business litigation and real estate law matters. He is dedicated to setting appropriate expectations with each client and developing clear, practical plans for moving forward with their legal concerns.
James was inspired to pursue a legal career by the way attorneys-from Daniel Webster and Richard Henry Dana in the early 19th century to Thurgood Marshall in the 20th-have shaped the course of the nation. Over time, he has become a different kind of lawyer, taking the greatest pride in achieving the best possible results for his clients. He strives for an elegant simplicity in his legal work, crafting well-constructed arguments and presenting cases clearly and persuasively. His approach is grounded in deep knowledge of the law, genuine curiosity about people and their affairs, and a constant drive to refine his skills and understanding. For James, the law is not drudgery, but the lubricant of a complex society and a daily opportunity to learn something new.
His most memorable cases have often been defined by overcoming challenges rather than setting sweeping legal precedent. These include succeeding on an appeal in a will contest after an experienced probate lawyer deemed the case unwinnable, and halting a restraining order despite negative front-page press coverage of his client. Yet for James, few professional experiences match the satisfaction of prevailing at trial after dedicating himself fully to a case for weeks on end.
